Fire Pits & Outdoor Living

Master the art
of the Arizona evening

Custom fire features built from natural stone and engineered for year-round use in the desert. From sculptural linear fire pits to intimate gathering bowls — the anchor that makes your outdoor space worth being in after dark.

Why a fire feature

Arizona's best outdoor hours happen
after the sun goes down

The window between 7pm and midnight is when Arizona outdoor living is at its best — temperatures drop, the yard comes alive, and a well-designed fire feature transforms that window from a pleasant evening into something you plan your week around.

"A fire feature isn't a luxury — it's the difference between a yard you sit in once a week and one you use every night from October through April."
Chris Flores — Owner, Shadetree Landscape Design

Most outdoor spaces in the East Valley sit unused after dark because there's nothing to anchor the evening. A fire feature solves that — the warmth, the light, and the sound of a fire create an environment that draws people outside and keeps them there.

Arizona's mild winters and long fall and spring seasons mean a well-designed fire feature extends your outdoor living calendar by months. A gas fire pit can be running in October when the rest of the country is closing down their yards. And because it's always there — no hauling wood, no waiting for it to catch — you actually use it.

We build fire features as architectural elements, not afterthoughts. The stone surround, the hearth depth, the flame height, the seating orientation — these are all design decisions that determine whether a fire pit becomes the center of your outdoor life or something that looks good in photos but rarely gets used.

What we build

Two types of fire features —
built to last in the desert

Every fire feature we install is a permanent architectural addition to your outdoor space. Here's what we specialize in and what goes into each one.

Built-in natural gas fire pits
Permanent, architectural fire features connected to your home's natural gas supply. No tanks to swap, no running out mid-evening — just a clean, consistent flame you control with a valve or igniter. We build the stone surround, set the burner pan, and connect the gas line to code.
  • Linear, round, square, and custom shapes
  • Natural stone or concrete block surround
  • Lava rock, fire glass, or smooth stone media
  • Integrated gas valve and igniter
  • Matched to your patio and hardscape design
ⓘ Natural gas fire pits require a gas permit in Tempe and Scottsdale. We coordinate permitting as part of every build.

Flexible
Custom fire bowls & propane options
For spaces where a gas line isn't practical, or where you want the flexibility to move or adjust the setup, we design and build custom stone fire bowls sized and positioned for your space. These can run on a concealed propane tank or be set up for a future gas connection.
  • Custom stone surround built to fit your yard
  • Concealed propane tank options available
  • No permanent gas permit required for propane
  • Pre-plumbed for future natural gas if desired
  • Integrated seating walls and hardscape
ⓘ Propane fire pits must follow local fire restrictions and manufacturer instructions. We walk you through current restrictions during your consultation.

Outdoor living walls & entertainment features
For homeowners who want the complete outdoor room — a stone feature wall that integrates a fireplace or fire feature with built-in TV mounting, outdoor speakers, and architectural lighting. This is the premium end of outdoor living design, and it's what separates a yard from an outdoor estate.
  • Natural stone architectural feature walls
  • Integrated fireplace or fire feature
  • Built-in TV and outdoor media provisions
  • Outdoor-rated electrical and lighting
  • Designed as one cohesive architectural element

The craft behind the fire

Built from stone, built to last — not assembled from a kit

Every fire feature we build is constructed on site from real masonry materials. No prefab kits, no modular inserts dropped into a paver surround. The stone is set by hand, the gas work is done to code, and the finished product is an architectural element — not a product.

Natural stone — each one unique
We work with natural flagstone, stacked stone, travertine, and concrete block depending on your design goals. Each material has a different character and finish — we'll walk you through the options and show you real examples during your consultation.
Designed around your seating layout
The size, height, and shape of a fire pit determines how people sit around it. We design the fire feature and the seating together — integrated stone benches, paver surround, and fire feature height are all planned as one cohesive outdoor room, not separate elements bolted together.
Heat-rated for Arizona conditions
Materials, sealants, and gas components are all specified for the heat cycles they'll actually face in the East Valley — not just what looks good in a showroom. A fire feature that works beautifully in Phoenix in January also needs to survive sitting in 118°F summer heat for four months.
